The Alchemy of “What If”: Turning Regret Into Opportunity

We all know the haunting echo of “what if.”

What if things had been different? What if I’d had more love, or less pain?

For years, I wrestled with these questions—sometimes so fiercely that it felt like my very energy was tangled in knots.

The Energy of “What If”—and the Chakras

In my journey—and in yours, too, if you look closely—every “what if” has a vibration. Our energy centers, the chakras, respond to these questions in powerful ways:

Root Chakra: (security, belonging): shakes when we question our foundations.

Sacral Chakra: (creativity, emotion): contracts when we doubt our joy.

Solar Plexus: (will, action): dims in the face of regret.

Heart Chakra: (love, compassion): aches from lost nurturance.

Crown Chakra: (faith, connection): closes when we lose trust in the divine.

For much of my adult life, my own “what ifs” were heavy:

What if I hadn’t been given up for adoption?

What if I hadn’t been treated as the black sheep?

What if my dreams had been nurtured instead of stifled while I survived trauma and abuse?

These questions pulled at my roots, squeezed my heart, and dimmed my inner fire. They kept me anchored in the past, my energy swirling in resentment and longing.

The Shift: Reclaiming the Power of “What If”

But over the past several years, something within me began to shift.

I realized:

When I dwell on those old “what ifs,” I’m stuck. My chakras close. My energy stagnates.

But what if—yes, “what if”—I could ask a new question?

What if, despite it all, my soul was guided?

What if the pain was a crucible, forging deeper capacities for love, creativity, and faith?

What if, without those hardships, I wouldn’t have the very people, passions, and joys that fill my life today?

When I focus on these “what ifs”—the ones rooted in possibility, gratitude, and divine intervention—everything shifts.

My heart softens and opens. My solar plexus sparks with new confidence. My crown chakra lifts, and I feel the presence of something greater, gently guiding me.

I look at my children, my husband, my bonus sons (who have expanded and tested my capacity for love), my unique career—blessings that might not exist if not for the winding, painful path I walked. I look back five, ten, even twenty years, and see that my life is better now. Not perfect, but so much richer and more magical than I could have imagined.

The Five Pillars: Will, Action, Patience, Self-Love, Faith

These new “what ifs” are supported by five pillars of transformation—each connected to our energy system:

Will: The courage to choose a new thought.

Action: The willingness to take even a small step forward.

Patience: The grace to allow things to unfold in their own time.

Self-Love: The radical act of forgiving myself and nurturing my heart.

Faith: The surrender to trust that there is wisdom, even in what I do not understand.

Practice: Reframing Your “What Ifs”

So here’s an invitation—for you, dear reader, and for myself, every single day:

1. Notice an old “what if” rooted in pain.

2. Feel where it lives in your body.

3. Breathe, and soften into that space.

4. Transform it:

“What if my pain was a doorway?”

“What if I am loved, just as I am?”

“What if something beautiful is already on its way to me?”

5. Visualize your chakras lighting up, your energy flowing, your spirit rising.

The Divine Alchemy of “What If”

The “what ifs” of our past can keep us chained to regret—or they can become gateways to magic and grace. When we shine the light of will, action, patience, self-love, and faith on them, we transform not just our story, but our entire energy field.

From personal pain to universal wisdom, this is the alchemy available to us all.

What if your own story is already more miraculous than you realize?
